Between epidurals and affirmations
You can believe in both modern medicine and your body’s wisdom. You can want to talk about your birth plan and the little things that make you feel like yourself.

About
Hi, I'm Raisa.
A birth doula, mom of two, and ex-marketing girl who loves birth. I’m all about taking the fear out of pregnancy and supporting you in a way that feels grounded, modern, and real.
Not all doulas are the same. Some are holistic, some clinical. I live in the in-between. I know there’s no one “type” of mom or birth. From epidurals to affirmations, quiet rooms to curated playlists, data lovers to go-with-the-flow types - I meet you exactly where you are.
I’m your calm, evidence-informed, non-super-woo-woo support. I’m here for the birth plan, the emotions, the logistics, and yes, the nail salon recs.

What even is a doula?
A doula is your emotional, physical, and informational support through pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum. I don’t replace your partner or your medical team. I complement them. I’m there to help you understand what’s happening, stay calm, and feel confident through it all. A doula is your steady person, the one who’s there for you from start to finish. I help you understand what’s happening, remind you that you’re capable, and make sure you feel supported, not managed. Think of a doula as bridging the space between the medical and the personal. I can guide your partner so they know how to help, comfort, and connect. If baby has older siblings, I help you think through how to prepare them and navigate that transition, too.
If I already have a midwife or doctor, why would I need a doula?
Midwives are incredible. They focus on your and your baby’s medical safety. They’re absolutely necessary in checking vitals, monitoring progress, making sure everything is clinically sound, that mama and baby are doing well physically. A doula focuses on YOU as a person. Your comfort, mindset, environment. Midwives may come and go throughout labor; a doula stays by your side the entire time. It’s continuous care where I help you make sense of what is happening, I talk you through it, the whole time. The second you feel a cramp and want some extra support by your side, I’m there.
So how are they different?
Your midwife is your medical lead. Your doula is your continuous support. The midwife tracks your vitals; I track your needs. The midwife tells you when it’s time to push; I help you stay calm and steady while you do it. We work hand in hand. one focusing on safety, the other on the human side of birth.
Isn’t this kind of… extra fluff?
I get it. I used to think so too. But birth isn’t something to just “get through.” it’s a major life event that stays with you forever. Having a doula doesn’t mean you’re fragile. A doula isn’t there to add fluff. I’m there to help you function at your best. Birth is one of the most intense, defining experiences of your life. You deserve someone whose only job is to center you: to read the room, calm the energy, and help you and your partner move through it with confidence. It’s practical. It’s grounding. And it changes how you remember your birth forever.
What about the cost? Is it really worth it?
It’s true, here in the Netherlands, midwifery care is excellent and covered by insurance. A doula is an additional cost, and I know that makes people pause. But midwifery care and doula support serve completely different purposes. Your midwife’s focus is your medical safety. A doula’s focus is your overall experience, how supported, calm, and informed you feel through every stage. Think of a doula as your on-call text support. You have something brewing in your mind or you’re feeling something, send me a message. I tend to give more personality and love that chatgpt in my humble opinion. You might only give birth a few times in your life. The way you remember it lasts forever. Research shows that having continuous doula support can mean: - 39% fewer cesarean births - 15% more spontaneous - 10% shorter labors - 31% less use of pain medication (Cochrane Review) So yes, it’s an investment, but one that can make your birth smoother, more positive, and less medicalized overall. For many families, that peace of mind, and the support that extends beyond the hospital walls, is priceless.
What can I actually expect from you as my doula?
You can expect someone who gets it, who’s personally been there and who has seen and assisted other births. Someone who’s calm when things get intense and knows when to step in, when to step back, and when to hand you the cold washcloth or the playlist cue. I’m there for your partner too, guiding them so they feel confident and connected, not lost on the sidelines.
So… what’s the point?
The point is feeling strong, seen, and supported. Birth doesn’t have to be feared or endured. It can be empowering and even beautiful. You deserve to experience that, your way.
